Preventive Dental Appointments During COVID-19

As the COVID-19 outbreak continues, you may be wondering if it’s safe to see a dentist like Dr. Troy Babb for preventive dental care. At Pineville Family Dentistry, we’re open for business, and seeing all patients to provide preventive, restorative, and cosmetic care.

So is it safe to see the dentist during COVID-19? Is it a good idea to see Dr. Babb for preventive care during the outbreak? Find out below!

Preventive Dental Care Is Essential For A Healthy Mouth, Even Now

Your dental health is essential for your overall health, and that’s as true today as it was before the COVID-19 outbreak began. And one of the most important ways you can keep your mouth healthy is with regular oral exams and teeth cleanings at Pineville Family Dentistry.

With preventive care, Dr. Babb can ensure that your mouth is free of common oral health issues like gum disease and tooth decay, and intervene early if he notices a major issue. Because of this, we don’t recommend delaying your appointment at Pineville Family Dentistry. If you need a routine cleaning, it’s a good idea to come in as soon as you can, even during COVID-19.

We’re Taking Steps To Protect All Of Our Patients And Staff

Whether you’re in Pineville, Kingsville, Camp Beauregard, or anywhere else in the area, our practice is fully operational, and prepared to give you and your family the care you need in a safe environment. A few steps we’ve taken to protect our patients and staff include:

  • Pre-appointment screenings & questionnaires – All patients must answer a screening questionnaire to answer questions about recent travel, contact with COVID-19 positive individuals, and symptoms they’ve had that may indicate COVID-19 infection.
  • Social distancing at our office – We have taken steps to remove seating and ensure six feet of distance between patients. Social distancing is one of the most effective ways to minimize the risk of COVID-19 spread.
In addition, we are taking steps to see fewer patients per day and space out appointments evenly to reduce the number of patients in our office at any given time. We ask that you come alone to your appointment unless you require assistance or are supervising children, and wear a face covering.
  • Enhanced operatory & common area cleaning and sanitization – We have always followed OSHA, CDC, and ADA guidelines for cleaning and sterilizing operatories, but we are now taking additional steps to clean and sanitize each room. In addition, we are frequently wiping down and disinfecting commonly-touched surfaces like door knobs, countertops, tables, chairs, and bathrooms to protect our patients and staff.

These are just a few steps we’re taking to protect you and our team members. For more information, feel free to give us a call at (318) 704-5757 and speak to one of our staff.
